Knitting: k2tog tbl (knit 2 together through back loop)
“k2tog tbl” stands for “knit 2 together through the back loop.”
Here’s what that means and how to do it:
Meaning:
- k2tog = knit two stitches together — this decreases your stitch count by one.
- tbl = through the back loop — instead of inserting your needle into the front of the stitches as usual, you insert it into the back of the two stitches at once.
This creates a left-leaning decrease, similar to “ssk” (slip, slip, knit), but the resulting texture and slant can look a little tighter or twisted depending on your tension and yarn.
