Knitting: Twisted Cord
In knitting, a twisted cord (sometimes called an i-cord) is a narrow, tube-like piece of knitting that looks like a rope or cord. It’s made by knitting a small number of stitches—usually 2–5—without turning the work fully, and then sliding the stitches back to the starting position to knit again.
Twisted cords are often used for:
- Drawstrings on hats or bags
- Edging on garments or blankets
- Decorative details, like ties or trims
